Why use this tool

Four resize modes

Width, height, percentage and an exact box cover everything from thumbnails to full-size exports.

Aspect ratio lock

Locked by default so photos never stretch; unlock only when you need specific dimensions.

Local processing

Images are decoded, resized and encoded in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing reduce quality?
Shrinking an image discards pixels, so the result is softer than the original when zoomed in. Keep the original file for editing and resize only the copy you publish.
Can I make an image larger?
Yes, but upscaling cannot invent detail. The resizer warns you when the target is larger than the source; use a higher-quality original when possible.
Is transparency preserved?
PNG and WebP keep the alpha channel. Choosing JPG flattens transparency onto a white background because the format has no alpha channel.
What happens to EXIF data?
The image is redrawn on a canvas and encoded again, which removes metadata such as camera details and GPS coordinates. The stored orientation is applied first, so photos are not rotated.
Can I resize several images at once?
This version handles one image at a time so the preview and size comparison stay accurate. Batch resizing may come later.
