Frequently asked questions

Which image formats are supported?
The converter reads PNG, JPG and WebP files and can write any of those three formats. Other formats such as GIF, AVIF and HEIC are not supported yet.
Does conversion change the image dimensions?
No. The original width and height are preserved. Use the image compressor if you also want to resize the image.
Is transparency preserved?
PNG and WebP preserve transparency. JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels are filled with white during conversion.
Why is the converted file larger?
Lossless formats such as PNG are often larger than JPG, especially for photos. Choose JPG or WebP and lower the quality if size matters.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Decoding, drawing and encoding happen locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
