Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between HSL and HSV?
HSL uses lightness, while HSV uses value or brightness. HSL is common in CSS and HSV in design pickers.
Does it support alpha?
The converter focuses on solid colors. Alpha values are ignored when parsing rgba or hsla input.
Can I paste CSS colors?
Yes. Hex values, rgb() and hsl() strings are all accepted.
Why do the numbers differ slightly?
Values are rounded for display, while the underlying conversion uses full precision.
Is there a contrast checker?
Yes. The contrast checker tool uses the same color engine to test WCAG ratios.
