How to use it

1

Choose an image

Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP file, or pick one from your device.

2

Adjust quality and width

Lower quality shrinks the file more; resizing reduces dimensions.

3

Download

Compare the original and compressed size, then save the result.

Why use this tool

Private by design

Images never leave your device; compression runs in the browser.

Resize while compressing

Cap the width to save even more space for large photos.

JPEG and WebP output

Choose WebP for smaller files in modern browsers.

Frequently asked questions

Does compression reduce quality?
Yes. JPEG and WebP are lossy at lower quality settings. Preview the result and keep quality high enough for your use case.
Why is my PNG larger after compression?
PNG is lossless, so re-encoding rarely helps. Convert photos to WebP or JPEG instead.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The file is read with the File API and processed on a canvas in your browser.
What does the quality slider do?
It controls the encoder quality from 0.1 to 1. Lower values produce smaller files with more visible artifacts.
Is there a file size limit?
Only your device memory. Very large images may take a few seconds, so close other tabs if the browser struggles.
