Why use this tool

Correct UTF-8 encoding

Chinese characters, emoji and spaces are encoded to their UTF-8 percent form.

Two escaping modes

encodeURIComponent for values and encodeURI for whole URLs.

Handles malformed input

Invalid percent sequences are reported instead of silently producing garbage.

Frequently asked questions

What is percent encoding?
Percent encoding replaces unsafe characters with a % sign followed by two hexadecimal digits, as defined in RFC 3986.
Component or full URL mode?
Component mode escapes reserved characters like / and ?, while full URL mode keeps the structure of a complete link.
Why does a space become %20?
A space is not allowed in a URL, so it is encoded as %20. In form data it may also appear as a plus sign.
Can I decode a URL safely?
Yes. Decoding happens locally, and invalid sequences produce an error rather than a corrupted string.
Does it handle Chinese?
Yes. Text is converted to UTF-8 bytes before percent encoding, so Chinese and emoji round-trip correctly.
