Frequently asked questions

Is YAML a superset of JSON?
YAML 1.2 supports JSON syntax, so many JSON documents are valid YAML. The two formats still differ in indentation rules and advanced features.
Are anchors and aliases supported?
Yes. Standard YAML anchors and aliases are resolved when converting to JSON, and duplicate references are expanded.
Why does my YAML fail to parse?
Common causes are tabs used for indentation, inconsistent indentation and unquoted special characters. The error message points to the line and column.
Which indent size should I use?
Two spaces is the most common YAML convention. Four spaces is also valid; pick whatever matches the rest of your project.
Is my config uploaded?
No. Parsing and serialization happen locally in your browser.
