Frequently asked questions
Does converting to JPG lose quality?
JPG uses lossy compression. At quality 85 or higher the difference is usually hard to see, while the file is much smaller. Lower values save more space but add visible artifacts.
Is transparency preserved?
No. JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Convert to PNG or WebP if you need an alpha channel.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Reading, drawing and encoding all happen locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
